~~ Adapted from the manga series "Crows" (クローズ) by Takahashi Hiroshi (高橋ヒロシ).
Crows Zero II (2009), directed once again by Takashi Miike, picks up shortly after the events of the first film. Genji Takiya has successfully defeated Serizawa Tamao and now stands at the top of Suzuran High School. However, peace is short-lived. The fragile truce between Suzuran and their long-standing rivals, Housen Academy—a school known for its strict hierarchy and brutal code of revenge—is broken when a Suzuran student violates the pact by attacking a Housen member, reigniting an old and deadly feud.
The Housen gang, led by the cold and disciplined Narumi Taiga, seeks vengeance and declares all-out war on Suzuran. Genji, who had hoped to solidify his rule and graduate in peace, is forced back into battle. As tensions escalate, he must rally his fragmented factions and confront a unified, battle-hardened enemy. The stakes are even higher this time, as both schools prepare for an all-out war that threatens to leave many broken and bloodied.
Meanwhile, Genji continues to wrestle with his identity and his future. Despite holding the top spot at Suzuran, he still feels the pressure of living up to his yakuza father’s legacy and questions what true strength really means. Old friends and enemies return, and shifting loyalties add complexity to the escalating conflict, making Genji’s task not just about physical dominance but also about understanding the values of leadership, loyalty, and purpose.
The film builds to a massive, climactic battle between Suzuran and Housen, showcasing Takashi Miike’s signature blend of stylish violence and emotional depth. Crows Zero II expands on the universe of the first film, offering deeper character development and even more intense action, while exploring the cost of ambition and the burden of legacy in a world ruled by fists and pride.
