Izumi Takahashi (高橋 泉) is a Japanese screenwriter and film director known for his emotionally resonant storytelling and versatile contributions to contemporary Japanese cinema.
Born on November 1, 1973, in Saitama Prefecture, Japan, Takahashi began his career in 2001 by co-founding the film unit "Gunjo-iro" (Ultramarine) with director Tetsumasa Hirosue. Their debut film, Aru Asa, Soup wa (2003), garnered critical acclaim, winning the Grand Prize at the 2004 Pia Film Festival and the Dragons & Tigers Award at the Vancouver International Film Festival.
Takahashi's screenwriting portfolio includes a diverse range of films such as 14-sai (2007), Solanin (2010), 100-kai Naku Koto (2013), and Museum (2016). He also co-wrote the screenplay for Kyoaku (2013), which earned him a nomination for Best Screenplay at the 37th Japan Academy Prize.
